Weekly Book Review!

Hello everyone! I am coming to you today from Cape Cod! Oh vacation, how desperately I needed you 🙂 I wanted to give you guys a quick book review of all the books I read this past week. Next week I’ll show you all of the books that I brought with me on vacation.

I read five books this past week (including one I listened to on the way here).

The Selection

The Selection (The Selection #1) by Kiera Cass
Goodreads rating – 4.14 (link here)
My rating – 8 out of 10
Genre – Young Adult, Dystopia, Romance
I actually read the first two books in this series at the beginning of the year, but wanted to reread them because the final installment was released. America Singer is a girl who has been selected to go on a Bachelor-style competition to potentially marry the Prince of Illea. Unfortunately, her heart is spoken for so when she initially meets the Prince, she expresses that she just wants to be friends. But with the trials of the Selection and outside forces, this book is romance-centered but with plenty of action and comedy to keep me interested 🙂 I highly recommend this series if you are looking for a some romance with lots of dystopian elements.

The Elite

The Elite (The Selection #2) by Kiera Cass
Goodreads rating – 3.99 (link here)
My rating – 8 out of 10
Genre – Young Adult, Dystopia, Romance
I don’t want to spoil anything if you haven’t read the series and plan on reading it but I really enjoyed the character development in this book and the plot twists. There is love, heartbreak, loss, and so many wonderful scenes that make me love this series. Some middle books can make it seem like the author is just dragging out the plot, but Kiera does a great job of keeping all of the action and craziness of the Selection fresh and interesting.

The One

The One (The Selection #3) by Kiera Cass
Goodreads rating – 4.26 (link here)
My rating – 6 out of 10
Genre – Young Adult, Dystopia, Romance
I was so excited to finally read this book! It is the final installment in The Selection series. Again, I don’t want to spoil anything if you haven’t read the series so I will just say that I was pleased with about 85% of the book but I am still having trouble with the ending. It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s more I’m not really sure I believe that what happened is what the characters would actually do in my head. If you have read this book or end up reading the series, please let me know your thoughts about the ending in the comments below.

Fangirl by Rainbow Powell
Goodreads rating – 4.22 (link here)
My rating – 7 out of 10
Genre – Young Adult, Romance
This book took a little while for me to get into. There were a fair amount of details that needed to be laid out for the rest of the book to blossom into the delightful read that it became. Cath is a girl who is just starting college who is socially awkward. She is a fangirl and uses fanfiction as an escape from real life. This story follows her through her first year at college and meeting new people, family issues, first romance, and all of the challenges of being pushed out of your comfort zone. I really enjoyed how the book turned out and love Rainbow Powell’s work! If you find yourself kind of struggling with the beginning of this book, push through. It is definitely worth it!

Me Talk Pretty One Day

Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris
Goodreads rating – 3.94 (link here)
My rating – 6 out of 10
Genre – Non-fiction, Humor, Memoir
This is the second book I have read by David Sedaris and I enjoyed a decent portion of it. I actually listened to this book because the past couple of years I can’t read in the car like I used to (SO FRUSTRATING). If you haven’t read a book by David, he writes short essays talking about different parts of his life and most are hilarious bits of nostalgia. There were some essays in this one that I just didn’t really understand or find entertaining, but then again, I feel like his works translates better when you are actually reading it rather than listening to the words. I really enjoyed reading Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls. Have you read any of his other books? Which ones have you enjoyed?

Butter Caramel Dark Chocolate Fudge – 5 Ingredients!

Hello everyone! Raise your hand if you are happy that Monday is over. *raises hand and waves it in the air…like I just don’t care*.
One of my coworker’s birthday is tomorrow and so I decided to make some fudge! Originally I was just going to go with the basic dark chocolate fudge, but then decided it needed a little something extra. So voila! Butter caramel dark chocolate fudge!

You will need the following:

18 oz. dark chocolate (I finished up various opened bags of chocolate)
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (we only had fat free in the cupboards and I was far too lazy to go out and buy regular. Both work fine with this recipe)
1/2 stick butter
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup (ish) light brown sugar
Two sauce pans (or clean one after making the fudge)
Wax paper
9″ square pan
Toothpick or fork

Open up the sweetened condensed milk and pour it into a sauce pan on low heat. Add in the chocolate. Make sure to stir your chocolate every minute or so until it really starts melting and then stir it continuously until smooth. This mixture will be pretty thick! (This is the basic dark chocolate fudge, so you could just make this, put in in a pan and chill it. It is DELICIOUS!)

Fudge 1

In another sauce pan, melt the butter on medium heat. Stir in the vanilla. Just before the butter starts to bubble, mix in half of the brown sugar and stir thoroughly. Continue adding in a little more brown sugar and stirring it well until you can’t see any melted butter but before the mixture starts clumping up. Continue stirring until the mixture starts to bubble.
*side note – this butter caramel sauce is perfect for putting on popcorn too! 🙂

Fudge 2

Line the square pan with wax paper. Pour the fudge mixture into the pan and smooth it out.  Drizzle roughly 1/3 of the caramel mixture onto the fudge. Use your toothpick or fork to drag some of the caramel into the fudge (make sure you don’t go all the way down to the bottom of the pan. Swirl it around, get fancy with it! You’re doing this so the caramel will stick to the fudge better. Then pour the rest of the caramel into the pan and smooth it out so you have a nice layer of caramel over the fudge.

Fudge 3

Stick the pan in the fridge to cool for at least 3 hours. After that, take the fudge out of the pan, peel off the wax paper, cut the fudge up into small pieces and enjoy! 🙂

I like using the basic butter, brown sugar and vanilla caramel rather than the more liquid versions because it adds some nice crispy texture to the creamy fudge. Have you ever made fudge? What are your favorite flavors??

Internet Round Up #3 – Web Comics

Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying your weekend 🙂 Today I want to talk about two of my favorite web comics that I follow. Both are relatively new to me but once I read a couple of the comics, I went back and read all of them from the very beginning. I will do a few posts on some other web comics that I follow but Girls with Slingshots and Rock, Paper, Cynic had to be featured first. I hope you enjoy them!

GIRLS WITH SLINGSHOTSgirlswithslingshots.com
Creator  Danielle Corsetto
 – Monday – Friday
Overview – Hazel and Jamie are best friends. Hazel has a love/hate relationship with feelings. She loves to stick them in a box and lock them up because she hates them so much. She would much rather drink all the booze in the world. Jamie on the other hand is full of warm fuzzies and is there for Hazel through every stupid thing she does or just to sit at the bar and drink with her. The comic follows these two best friends and a slew of their other friends and acquaintances as they navigate through all the problems and crazy antics that today’s twenty-somethings get into. (Being a twenty three year old, I know these antics well :D) Oh…there is also a talking cactus named McPedro and he has a fantastic mustache.
This web comic never fails to make me smile, laugh (many times bursting out loud and getting strange looks from people), head desk and feel a whole range of emotions. A couple months ago, I binge read this comic (As of writing this, Danielle is on strip #1869) in about 2 1/2 weeks and I hungrily wait for new comics as they come out every weekday. Danielle is currently taking a quick break as she prepares for her tour “Slingshot Across America” and will have some fellow artists doing guest strips while she is gone. I highly suggest you check this comic out but make sure to start from the beginning otherwise you will probably be a little lost.

rock paper cynic

Rock, Paper, Cynic – rockpapercynic.com
Creator – Peter Chiykowski
Updates – Weekly
Overview – Most of the web comics that Peter creates are stand alone so you don’t have to start from the beginning in order to understand them. I shall let Peter describe Rock, Paper, Cynic in his own words.
“I write Rock, Paper, Cynic—a webcomic for people who think too much and too little. It’s all about celebrating things that make the world weird and exciting (like turtles, philosophy, and dinosaurs) and poking fun at things that bring people down (like bigotry, Sean Bean dying in movies, and Internet Explorer).”
You will see everything from comics about Game of Thrones and Mario Kart to An Apology Letter to T Rexes and The Only Responsible Use of Physics (click on the links if you would like to see those). I have printed out several of these comics and decorated my desk at work with them because they make the world a little bit brighter and definitely make me laugh. If I had to pick one to showcase the pure awesome that is Rock, Paper, Cynic, I would have to choose this one here. It may or may not have to do with the most epic way to destroy the world.

Side note – I actually got to meet both of these creators at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival this past May and it was AMAZING. They were both very nice and I was able to have some awesome conversions and pick up some signed comics! It was basically like walking around in Nerd Heaven. If you haven’t been to any kind of Comic Con or Comic Arts Festival, I would highly encourage you to do so if you are interested 🙂

Let me know in the comments below any web comics you enjoy that I should check out!

Finished Pages #1

Hello everyone! Today I want to do a review of the books I have read this past week. I read three books so this will be a relatively short post. Let me know in the comments below if you have read any of these! Also, I am leaving for vacation next week and need to pack some good beach reads so leave your recommendations down below as well! 🙂

A Study in Sink

A Study in Sink by Maureen Johnson – I FINALLY got around to reading this! This was a perk for donating to the Harry Potter Alliance’s Equality For The Win campaign last year. It is a fan fiction starring John Green and Benedict Cumberbatch. Hank and Katherine also make an appearance. This was super short but as with all of Maureen’s writing, I was hooked, I was laughing, and I loved it. 🙂 It’s only about 20 pages so if you want to read it, you can click the link here and make a $15 donation to the HPA to get it!

The Cartoon Introduction to Economics: Volume One Microeconomics by Grady Klein and Yoram Bauman, Ph.D – I studied economics in college and I have been missing it recently. I have had this sitting on my shelves for a while and read through just as a fun, educational light read to exercise that part of my brain again. If you were ever interested in the basics of economics and wanted some humor and a very approachable way to learn it, definitely pick this up 🙂 I found it on Thriftbooks for pretty cheap (I think $6) but it is currently out of stock there. I would check Books A Million or another discount book site for it.

We Were Liars

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart – This book is about an octopus who becomes a pirate captain. This book is about how to make the perfect scones. This book is about what happens when you mix all the chemicals in your bathroom and how that puff of smoke will affect the rest of your life.
Okay…I was lying. This book. Holy crap this book. You can’t really say too much about We Were Liars without giving it away but it is definitely worth the read. When I first started reading it, I wasn’t really sure where it was going but then it all came together in the end and I didn’t see it coming. I still have a massive book hangover from this book. I am going to re-read it again and I would encourage you to do so as well because once you figure out what happens, the entire story transforms and I feel like it needs a good re-read to fully appreciate how intelligent and crafty this book is. (Also if you are looking for another great E. Lockhart book to read, I highly recommend The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks)

Don’t forget to leave your reviews of these books if you have read them and your beach read recommendations in the comments below! 🙂

LUSH – Haul/Favorites

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a lovely Wednesday! I am especially happy that is Wednesday because I have a day off tomorrow. A much needed day off, which will include some fun blog things so stay tuned for that 🙂

ANYWAYS – Lush. Oh Lush. I know that there is a lot of talk about Lush and how it is over priced and over hyped but I have found some products from Lush that have been permanently added into my beauty rotation. I was just there yesterday to stock up on a couple things that I needed for my vacation so I figured I would show you what I got and talk about some of my other favorites.

Ro's Argan Body Conditioner

Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner – $32.95 “Luxurious rose-scented shower lotion for the softest skin that ever was”
I just picked this up yesterday. I had been lusting after it for a while and finally decided to pick it up while I was there. I used it last night in the shower and OOOOOOOOOOH MY GOD. This stuff smells DIVINE! When I got out of the shower, I kept walking around and then randomly smelling my arm. It smells like a sensual rose. I may have walked downstairs, presented my arm to my mom, and told her to sniff. It has the mother stamp of approval.
You use this basically like a hair conditioner but for your skin. So wash your skin like you normally do, then rub this on, let it sit for a minute, and then wash it off! There will be a slight oily shine when you get over the shower but you just have to pat your skin dry and voila! Moisturized and heavenly-smelling skin.

Whoosh Shower Jelly

Whoosh Shower Jelly – $6.95 “A citrus rush to banish brain fog”
I also picked this up yesterday. I haven’t had a chance to try it but this stuff wakes you up when you smell it. It’s so citrusy, zesty and sweet! I love it! The people in the Lush store kind of know me now and remember what I do and the one girl recommended this to me. You can either break a chunk off and lather it up in your loofah, or what she suggested to me was to stick it in the freezer and then take it out right before you hop into the shower and use it on sore muscles. My job can be pretty labor-intensive sometimes and my shoulders definitely aren’t too thrilled when we have a big giveaway day, so this sounds like a nice little way to soothe them after a rough day. The produce basically has the consistency of a well-set jello, very wiggly and jiggly and a little too much fun to play with. I will report back when I have used it a couple times and let you know what I think!

Mint Julips

Mint Julips Lip Scrub – $9.95 “Minty sugar scrub for soft lips”
If I could only buy one Lush product for the rest of my life…it is between this and the next product I am going to talk about. The lip scrub is AWESOME! The biggest selling point for me is that you put a little bit of it on your lips, scrub it around, AND THEN LICK OFF THE SCRUB. It tastes like little bits of mint chocolate chip candy. The oil in it also moisturizes the lips. This pot will also last me ages since you only have to use a teeny tiny bit. Since you can just lick the scrub off and then you are good to go, I actually keep this in my purse so I can do a quick scrub at work if I feel like my lips need a little help. I LOVE this stuff!

Hair Treatment

H’Suan Wen Hua Hair Moisturizer – $20.95 “Mega moisturizer to feed hungry, out-of-condition hair”
As with all of the other products, this stuff smells AWESOME. It’s got a little bit of sweet spiciness to it that makes my hair smell very sensual and yummy. I don’t really understand why Lush calls this a hair moisturizer. It’s more of a hair mask. You slather this in your hair and let it sit for 20 minutes before hopping into the shower, rinsing out and then going through your normal hair routine. My hair is all kinds of damaged from coloring it so much and H’Suan Wen Hua (I still have no idea how to pronounce it correctly) makes my hair so soft and so very happy. The only downside is that since my hair is so long, I go through about 1/3 of the pot every time I use it. I try to use it once every two – three weeks but the results are pretty awesome.

I also got two little samples of their tea tree water and their breath of fresh air toner. Have you tried anything from Lush? What do you think of their products and their brand?

Breakfast Flatbread!

Hello everyone! This past week I have been loving Greek-style flatbread! It’s basically a round pita without the pocket and thinner. I have been putting EVERYTHING on them! I made a pizza with some marinated artichokes, roasted garlic, goat cheese and some spinach. I made another one with some plain greek yogurt, dill, cucumbers and some leftover grilled chicken. But my favorite was this breakfast flatbread I made!

Breakfast Flatbread

Yup…now I am hungry again. This was super quick and very easy to make! All you do is take your flatbread and mash 1/2 of an avocado on it (I find that using a fork is the easiest way to mash it). Then I poured on some salsa, maybe 1/3 of a cup. I quickly scrambled two eggs and cooked a couple of pieces of bacon. I layered the eggs on top of the salsa and then crumbled up the bacon on top. That’s it! Quick, easy, delicious and a good nutritious filling breakfast to get you ready for your day!
Have you experimented with flatbreads at all? What do you like to put on them? I hope you had a great day! 🙂

Internet Round Up #2 – Foodbeast

*The Internet Round Up Youtube playlist is at the end of the post 🙂

This week’s featured website on website round up is Foodbeast.com.  A coworker introduced me to this website a couple months ago and it has quickly become one of my favorites. Foodbeast is “the premiere food news resource. A one-stop location for food news, culture and entertainment. Birthed from a small apartment in Orange County, with the goal of providing a clean display of current food trends, products and industry information. Written by and for the average eater. Because we’re hungry.”

Basically it’s a website that brings you news about all things food from all over world. Articles range from the science on why your breath stinks from garlic for hours to the latest food crazes and trends. They occasionally post some crazy recipes that leave me salivating and wanting to bake all the delicious things! The best one I have seen so far would have to be the Bacon Chocolate Guinness Challah Bread Pudding posted here.

My Top 5 favorite articles from this week are:

17 Unexpected Ways to Enjoy an AvocadoLink here. Have you ever tried making popsicles with avocado? I am a bit wary but I think sometime this summer I will give it a go and see how they turn out.

Restaurant issues Ban on Tipping, Compensates by giving Servers 20% of sales per shift. Link here. Being a former waitress I can see the good side of this. Unless the waiter or waitress goes out of their way and does something truly exceptional or awful, most people have their own set amounts that they tend to tip, if they tip at all. I can see both sides of how this might be a good or bad idea. What do you think about this policy?

13 Food & Drink Father’s Day Gifts that Will Guarantee You’re His Favorite ChildLink here. This post made me laugh. Even though most of the items are crazy expensive, there are some truly wacky gifts that a father would really appreciate. The espresso maker crafted from a real race car engine might be my favorite gift on there 🙂

Cooking Machine Lets Multiple Chefs Phone in Instructions for a Single DishLink here. This article and the video blew my mind. Oh technology. What will we come up with next? Also I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want to play with this machine!!!!

Company Designs ‘Urban Beehive’ for Your Home. What Could Go Wrong?Link here. But really though…what could go wrong? If you had the option, would you want one of these Urban Beehives? I don’t use honey enough to justify having one but I think it would be kind of neat!

Goodreads 2014 Book Challenge!

If you haven’t heard of Goodreads, it is an app where you can track all of the books you have read, are reading, and would like to read. You can sort your books into shelves and it will give you recommendations based on those shelves and how you rated the books in them. Being a book lover, this app is AWESOME! They also have an option to participate in their 2014 Book Challenge where you input the number of books you would like to read this year and it keeps track for you!  My goal for 2014 is a rather lofty one. 150 books in one year. That sorts out to be around 3 books per week. We are about half way through the year and I am actually a little ahead of of schedule! 84 books read so far!  I figured a top 10 list of the books that I would recommend of those 84 was in order 🙂 I would like to mention though that these are in no particular order. If you click on the titles, it will take you to the Goodreads page if you would like to read the official summary or reviews from other people.

 1. Seriously I’m Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres – I was stuck in an airport for 6 hours so I downloaded this book to listen to while I was waiting. Listening to Ellen tell her story was such a good life choice. I may have been that weirdo that burst out laughing in the middle of a busy airport for no apparent reason to the outside world, but I was enjoying myself. There is something soothing about Ellen’s voice that made the whole thing pleasant. If you need something easy and happy to listen to (or read) definitely check out Ellen’s books.

 2. Into the Black: Odyssey One by Evan Currie – This book took me a little while to get into but dear god am I glad I stuck with it. The edited version is AMAZING and the adventure that these characters go on through space, discovering a new alien race and all the trials and tribulations that come with intrerupting a war makes for one hell of a read. I am planning on picking up the next couple books in the series but haven’t gotten around to it yet. If you like space-related sci-fi, definitely check this one out 🙂

 3. Divergent Series by Veronica Roth – I am pretty sure everyone knows about this series but trust me, it’s not over hyped and definitely worth the read. When you get to the end of Allegiant, let me know and I will come over with a blanket, disney movies, cookies and tea. I would also recommend reading the mini stories that Veronica has released.

4. Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking – Quiet took me a long time to finish but I am glad that I did. I felt like I learned a lot about both myself and others while reading this book. If you are looking for a good book to either learn more about introverted people or to understand yourself better, I would highly recommend this book.

5. This Star Won’t Go Out by Esther Earl – Esther’s book is a compilation of some of her journal entries and drawings while she was struggling with cancer. This book reveals the good, the bad, the hope and the sorrow of all the comes with fighting cancer.  This book made laugh, cry, angry, and everything else. It’s a good one. DFTBA Esther.

6. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline – This could be my top pick for the entire year for all of the books. I just read it back in February and I really want to read it again. I DEVOURED this book while on a plane and I could not put it down. This book is one giant treasure hunt in an virtual reality and just thinking about everything that happens is making me flail and dying to pick it up and re-read it. Even if you aren’t really into futuristic sci-fi, please check this book out. The author is so good at building these virtual worlds and I really want to check out some of his other work.

7. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell – This is probably one of my top YA pics for the entire year so far.  Boy and Girl Meet. Boy and Girl initially don’t like each other. Boy and Girl end up liking each other. Girl’s family is a piece of crap.  Boy helps her out. etc etc This book is glorious and it makes me want to hug everyone and tell them it will be okay and this feels like a much better example of romance in your early teens.

8. Girls with Slingshots Volumes 1 – 7 by Danielle Corsetto- I actually read all of these online but spent so much time that I ended up counting them as actual books (which they are published). Girls with Slingshots is one of a few web comics that I make sure to check on every time there is a new post. GWS is about a group of characters who are all in their mid-twenties and dealing with anything and everything in today’s age from relationships, drinking, moving in and out of your parent’s house and with a talking cactus and his talking mustache occassionally. GWS is one of those little nuggets of gold that you want to share with the world and protect all at the same time because it is just so good! I recently met the writer at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival and holy crap did I fan girl over her. Like, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t function, fan girling. It was awesome 🙂 If you do end up reading this comic, I would suggest starting from the beginning otherwise you will probably be confused about a lot of things. But trust me, it is worth it!

9. Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan- I don’t really know how to describe this book other than a treasure hunt surrounding books and a secret society. To say anything else would be giving away some major plot points but trust me, this one is good 🙂

10. The Maze Runner Series by James Dashner – This series did take me a few chapters to get into but I got HOOKED! The story is about a group of boys who have been sent into this Maze with no memory of their life before the maze. They are located inside a set of walls which keeps them safe from the maze at night, where it is very dangerous. They are trying to find a way out when all of a sudden a girl shows up and everything changes. This book is INTENSE. You get very attached to some characters who are later viciously injured or killed. These books will challenge your idea of right and wrong and you better hang onto your seat because it is one crazy ride!

Let me know in the comments below what your favorite books have been so far this year! Any recommendations??

May Favorites

There were a lot of new products that I bought recently that I have been absolutely loving! I included a couple non-beauty favorites that I had to share with you as well 🙂

Revlon Colorburst

First up we have the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in #240 – Striking. Now I have been LOVING the Revlon Colorburst Lip Balms in both the Laquer and the Matte finishes (I may have 7 of them), but Striking is taking the cake for me right now. This rich, moisturizing coral lip balm gives such a great pop of color for summer. The lip crayon makes it super easy to reapply when you need it. You do need to reapply throughout the day to keep the color looking fresh but I love the formula and the color makes my day that much brighter 🙂

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eye Liner

Next we have the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Line in Dark Brown. I will never purchase another brand of liquid eye liner for a very long time. The felt tip gives you an amazing amount of control to get the perfect flick for your cat eye! I am definitely going to be stocking up on some of the other colors this summer. I am getting into layering a brighter eye liner on top of a darker eye liner.

The Benefit the Pore-Fessional Agent Zero Shine has been a great find in May. I don’t really have a problem with shininess but I love the matte finish that this gives me. It took me a little while to get used to the tiny brush that comes with it but I got it down.  The color and the finish add a certain something that brings a little extra life and color to my face and helps my makeup stay on longer.

The most recent addition to my favorites but possibly my top pick for this month is the Boscia MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil.  Before I bought this, I would use a combination of makeup remover wipes and my regular cleanser to take my makeup off. When I would go back over with my toner, I would still pick up some foundation and never really felt like I had a good clean face. Well those days are gone because I am in love with this cleansing oil. I just need two pumps, rub my hands together, massage it into my skin, then use some water to lather it and wash it off. It is gentle enough and tough enough to tackle eye makeup (even my Stila liquid eye liner!) My face feels so clean and happy after using this! I highly recommend you give this product a try whenever you want to take off a full face of make up 🙂

2014-06-10 11.31.52

My final beauty favorite for May would have to be the 12 Benefits Pink Addiction Keratin & Argan Infusion, which is a leave in product that does everything from detangling to replacing the keratin in your hair.  I have been testing out some different shampoos and conditioners the past couple of months, trying to find a good fit for my hair. My hair is long, thick, a TON of fly aways and was feeling a lot like straw recently. I had been using the 12 Benefits spray, which I did like, but that ran out so I decided to try something new from their line and bought this. MY HAIR IS SO HAPPY! I use a pump and a half of this and rub it into my towel-dried hair after a shower. Then I brush it through and let my hair air dry over night. My hair is noticeably softer and healthier after using this.

2014-06-10 11.33.37

Onto some non-beauty favorites! The two albums that I have been listening to on repeat lately have been Hank Green’s new album Incongruent and Alex Goot’s new ep Wake Up Call. Both of these guys are from YouTube and gah these albums are just so good! My favorite tracks off of Hank’s album would have to be Hug Scream, Oh JK Rowling, and Undigested Lump. On Alex’s album, my favorite tracks are Wake Up Call, Forever and Just to Shine. These albums are very upbeat and happy and have lots of very catchy songs 🙂
I also have my new speaker on here which is the Deck from Motorola. I have been battling with crappy $40 speakers that break every few months for a while now and decided to invest in a decent wireless speaker.  OH MY GOD BEST DECISION EVER. The sound quality from this speaker is incredible. You hook up your device via BlueTooth (they do include a wired hookup as well which is handy for plugging into my laptop) and have full control from your phone. What I really love about this particular speaker is the party mode. You can have up to 5 people synced to the device at one time so if you don’t like what your friend is playing, you can cut in and start playing something off of your phone.  The battery life is really good as well and you can keep an eye on how much battery is left when you have the Deck synced your phone. Love love love love LOVE this speaker!

My food favorites of the month have to be these wasabi and sea salt seaweed snacks. It sounds kind of weird but the combination of the heat of the wasabi, the saltiness from the sea salt and the flavor of the seaweed marries so well into one beautiful little snack.  Also I recently discovered that I enjoy seltzer on its own or mixing with flavored water. So I went shopping in Wegmans and found the glorious flavored seltzer! I tried a few different flavors but so far vanilla is reigning king for me. It is delicious both on its own and mixed with various other flavored water. Yummy!
